How do these saddles seat you? Wondering if they put you more on your pockets? Center and upright? Forward?

How do you like the stirrups? Stay underneath you? Forward? Do your legs get kicked behind you?

Any and all info would be appreciated! Considering this saddle for my OTTB mare. Thanks!

I don't ride in anything other than my Double J Lynn McKenzie. There are times where it doesn't keep me perfectly seated, yes. Doesn't usually happen often & it's always when the horse does something weird. It's not a super deep seat, it gives you room to move but still feels secure under you. It's not going to trap you in place like say a Bob Marshall or something. My stirrups are forward hung, but my feet don't really ever get forward and they absolutely never get behind me. I never have to worry about if I'm kicking past my back cinch or anything, they stay right up with the girth.

I ride these saddles as well and I agree with the above poster.  I do not ever feel trapped.  I can move where I need to, but I also feel secure.  My feet are just where I need them, not behind me or in front.  I guess that is why these saddles are my favorite.  Puts me where I need to be.  Unfortunately I have found they do not fit every horse.

I have rode the specials for several years and they always have fit great and rode super. I have trouble riding in anything else now. Never get my feet behind me. the special seems to fit a variety of horses. I even prefer it on my wider horses.

Thanks for the replies everyone! How about seat size? I’ve heard the double j seats run a little big? I rode in a 14.5” Deb Sibley and Tammy Fischer. I have lost some weight since purchasing those saddle so was thinking I’d be good with a 14”? Thoughts?

Mine fits larger than my others & they're all 15". The leg opening is bigger than the others bc of the different cantle shape. You'd probably be fine with a 14" I would think

Mine sit me on my pockets vs my crown c that sits me up on my crouch. My billy cooks were 14" so I bought a 14" special. I definitely needed a 13.5

Just bringing this thread back out because I am looking at a Double K Lynn McKenzie Special 15” seat. I currently have a Double J Pozzi wide 14.5” and absolutely love it. Just having a hard time finding one exactly like it unless I order new. Does anyone have insights on how the McKenzie compares to the Pozzi? I want a saddle that sits be back on my pockets with my feet forward and will fit a standard barrel horse. Thanks in advance.

I have had both. The pozzi has a deeper seat. The LM has a more open seat and has less depth to it than the pozzi. The pozzi makes me feel like I'm sititng on my horses back closely. The LM I felt like I was a little above my horse. I prefer the Pozzi over the LM. Both hung feet beneath me, not really forward, and defnitely not backward.

LM saddles have some newer features like deeper leg cuts, higher cantles, etc, that will sit you deeper in the seat. I have a Nueva and love it. Never ridden in a Pozzi though. My LM sits me on my pockets, but I can get out of it easily.

True. Mine was not brand new. I had a hard time with fitting the LM. Lynn actually mailed me all of her trees and none of them fit my horse well. Ended up selling it quite quickly and picked up the Pozzi instead.
