| Ive been debating on trying an omega supplement for hair coat, hoof and allergy/skin support. It seems like a "treat" version would be easiest for my picky horse. Has anyone tried the Omega nibblers? or Majesty Omega wafer treats? The idea of them seems promising, but wanted to know if anyone has actually fed them and saw results? In my interet research (for what thats worth, lol) I'm finding conflicting reports that horses even need/utilize omega supplements, but I keep finding other testimonies of how omgeas have helped with the issues that I actually need help with. anyone have some advice? |

| I've used Omega Horseshine on two horses with sweet itch with GREAT results. I also feed it to horses I want to add a little bloom to. Not sure it helps much - but def did with sweet itch horses. |

| I also started using Algae to Omega by Equiforce on my one 25 year old gelding. It has helped with his leg issues and plus put a shine on his coat. |

Location: The Great Northwest | I have been feeding Hemp oil with great results for several years. I ues in internally and externally with great results. I have this year started giving the horses CBD and seeing good results. I have used CBD myself for three years and very happy with the results. Hemp oil is a perect balance for horses and good for people too. Hemp oil is nature's most perfectly balanced plant oil because it has a very healthy 3-1 ratio of Omega 6 to 3. Hemp seed oil is known to contain up to 5% of pure GLA a much higher concentration than any other plant. The optimal balance of Omega 3, 6 & 9 have been used for thousand of years. Now modern medical scientists and nutritionists have started to rediscover hemp seed oil's many beneficial properties. |

I use hemp oil on myself and the protein. My chickens get hemp seeds in their feeds too. Makes for super healthy eggs |

| Where do you get your CBD oil for the horses. I have yet to find CBD oil that has worked as stated. Doesn't work so good for pain. |

Location: Willows, CA | Omega 3 is usually fed as a way of supressing Omega 6 in the diet to reduce inflammation. Sounds like a good idea, but Omega 6 is a essential fatty acid also. The bodys ability to generate some inflammation is vital to certain functions. Where there can be a problem with that inflammation is when there is too much. Diets that are very high in grain based concentrate feeds have a lot of Omega 6 in them. In this case, adding a Omega 3 source can be a benefit by bringing the O3/O6 ratio closer to balance. If you do not feed any, or very little, grain of any type, high levels of added Omega 3 would not be needed. So, If your horse eats a diet that includes more than one or two pounds of grain, it may well benefit from an additional Omega 3 source. If your horse eats a roughage based diet with very little or no grain at all, the Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio will be very close to proper, and additional supplementation of too much Omega 3 might actually interfere with needed Omega 6 function.
