So I have determined lasix is taking the run out of one of my horses :( I do have a flexineb to use. Horse has been running on 4-6ccs of lasix this past year. Has anyone ever tried Troy Brandenburgs herbs Mo Lung and that SRS blend? Or would I want to try Race Today by vetline? Or start nebulizing with something? I am at a loss what to try., vet said cut back on lasix only if I can...I do know I don't have the horse i once had prior to the bleeding issue. I have my horses vetted, and did not find any lameness issues either. Thoughts please?

My mare was on 4-5cc lasix and did just fine but was getting to be a pain to stick. I put her on oxygen supplements and no lasix and knock on wood no bleeding

Continue scoping on a regular basis. A friend thought hers was controlled on supplements. Horse just wasn’t bleeding externally. He was running good still - I can’t remember what made them scope him other than a vet was available at a race (BBR) to do it. He was most definitely bleeding. He’s on Lasix now. totally understand wanting to get off it - just proceed with caution.

Location: Opelousas, LA | Have you tried adding Ky red or Mag sulfate, those are my go to meds in the humidity down here so I don't have to use so much lasix. |

I wanted to wean off of Lasix and got told this story... Friends horse was diagnosed bleeder, and she was told success stories of another friend weaning her horse off Lasix with the help of a popular supplement. So they tried it, and the horse kept running well and winning. Until he wasnt fine, bled so bad (internally) that he got severe pneumonia and almost died. I also asked the vet who I had scope mine to give me thier opinion on a few supplements. Her words, "in the clinical studies that I've seen, I've been extremely disappointed in how product x, y, and z have held up."

I am using daily supplements to keep my bleeder from bleediing and to help breathing at home during normal workouts. I will not use anything but lasix for a competition run tho. If there was another good alternative then vets would be all over it and recommend it. I had three very in depth conversations with my vet/s when Zan started bleeding. There is no alternative for lasix for confirmed bleeders. One of my vets thoroughly researched IM and oral dosing and came back with nope, IV use is the only way that works consistently. As he said - if there were alternative delivery for lasix or alternative treatments then the race vets and peeps would know and be all over it.
