What's a good hackamore for a little more rate? Very responsive horse just sensitive and needs a little help. 

I love love hackamores!  I think with any bits or hackamore it depends on your hands!  I have the Kristi Peterson Hackamore (Bozo), and so far that the best I love! I can ride both my horses in it and run in it no problem and they are completely different!  The Bozo hack I'm able to lift in middle of turn if they get too close and able to ask for their nose and shoulder in practice if they need tuned on.  They don't get stiff with it.  One horse is super bendy so this helped him not be so bendy the other one is super stiff to the right and he not stiff in this hack to the right.  I want to sell all my other hacks now!  I ride in it everyday and dont have to change for a run.  thats my 2 cents lolol

Jim Warner if they need little more rate and beetle if they need a little less.

Clampitt Hackamores. There is nothing like them.  Make several different lengths and weights customize if needed.  All are handmade.

I see a few no name brand jim Warner's..are they the same or should I stick to name brand?

I got a no namer. Tough 1 I think was the brand. I did use some black electrical tape where the nose band connects because someone reported theirs broke during a run. I’ve had it years now with no issues and was like 20 bucks. 

Keep an eye on the no names...a friend just had one break in a run the other week.

She found one with the same Jim Warner style shanks but the nose is tied in not clamped.

Besides the one's mentioned. (i have and have used them all) you might check out a wildchild hackamore. I got mine new from cowhorse supply. My sensitive guy doesn;t like the clampett or the bozo. A jim warner short shank, rope nose with a leather curb is too much. but the wildchild with a chain curb is juuuuust right. I prefer to ride in a hack, so I have lots of different ones.

Goosetree Hackamore. Absolutely love the chain, it's not harsh at all and it doesnt leave any rub Marks like a rope nose can.

I have a hack like this and love it. Reminds me of a middle ground between beetle and jim warner.

Better look again. Nothing like a Beetle hack. Very different width, and angle that the nose engages.

Cool! You just put a name to a mystery hack I had. I knew it was very similar to the Wildchild, but with a few subtle differences. Thanks!

This one is a mystery in general - my neighbor has one, super similar but it has a separate hook for the chin strap. The one I got is the same in the link and it seems to work the same. I really like it on a lot of horses. I am not a hack girl but my gelding is preferring one so I have a beetle, this one and a knock off bozo.
