| Hey guys! I never post on here, but I've been considering breeding my mare, only thing is I'm not sure which stallion would cross best with her... So I'm coming here for suggestions. She can be "hot", nothing crazy she just has pretty bad anxiety and gets on the muscle.. Her pedigree is in the link below.. What do you guys think? https://www.allbreedpedigree.com/flit+to+flirt |

Location: Iowa | I think you should research stallion traits and see what you would get along with. I know I personally ride certain bloodlines better than others because they carry certain personality and riding traits that fits my style better. I think you should also look at conformation. What does you mare lack in, find a stud that will balance her. Also, what are your goals? Some bloodlines excel at maturing young for futurities but do not have the body to be a long-term rodeo horse. There are so many stallions and information out there, just have to figure out what you need and a budget. |

| I am a huge Lions Share of Fame. Obvious reasons - pedigree and how he is built. But i have seen him compete and he always seems so quiet and love his running style. |

Location: California | I bred my mare this year and the first thing I did was to get a Barrel Horse Register and study it! I have a buckskin mare and do not prefer perlinos so I was able to immediately eliminate all the buckskins and palominos. This was a little sad because there were so many nice ones but this is the one and only time I plan to breed and it would be hard to have that color! I prefer working or cow breds vs racing lines so I again eliminated another huge chunk off the list. I went through was was left and tagged my top 8 based off of confirmation, performance record and pedigree. I had my first pick in my mind, but asked my husband who is totally non-horsey which was his favorite. He picked the same stud that I had as my top pick and when I asked him why, he said he had the kindest look about him. Then I focused on this stud and looked up all the videos I could, checked out his website and also called his owner with a bunch of questions. His owner was very forthcoming and our conversation solidified my choice. One last thing that I considered but wasn’t a deal breaker was that he stood at a major stallion farm since I was such a novice and I thought it would make it easier. Even though my vet handled everything, the stallion farm really did everything they could to help get my mare pregnant and she did take on the first try! |

I love my Lions share of Fame as well. Awesome mind, focused every time since the first trip down the alley, doesn't like to get in trouble, and defintely athletic. She had a super late start on barrels outside of me trotting the pattern and putting miles on her. She went to Marne Loosenort end of October her 4 year old year and she was doing good enough that she was entered in her first race mid January and got her butt hauled all over until BBR finals. She never got frazzled, hauled great on the road, made one mistake in getting past the first barrel - just missed it at OKC. She clocked faster that run - it looked she knew she screwed up and ended up clocking faster that run..I started running her in October when she came to my barn and has been solid 1D/2D at really any show and still has a great personality and mind. I would take 2 barn fulls, lol. He's the only thing I am breeding to next year. |

First of all, what's your budget? Do you intend to keep or sell? |

| Consider contacting Mary Crago with Crago Perforance Horses. She has three amazing studs. She is always super helpfull and willing to spend as much time as needed on the phone with you to make sure all your questions are answered. All of her stud fee's are priced well also. I have two yearlings from two different studs of hers. I am beyond pleased with my colts. |
