So I LOVE the ride of my double J pozzi, but it doesnt fit Rolly that well. I tried a martin crown C 7" gullet tonight and it fit him like a glove and he moved so much more freely. So my question is, which martin saddle rides the most like a double J? Straighter with a deep seat and higher, straighter cantle and swells? And are all the martin trees pretty similar in fit?

I have ridden Martins most of my life. I have had Crown Cs, a few All Arounds, a reiner, a few old model racers and several of the Ironhorse.

I can tell you that all the Martin trees are not the same nor do they all fit the same. The older Ironhorse & racers(pre Crown C) fit completely different that the newer models. Both rider & horse.

We have sold off the Crown Cs. and gone back to the old racers and Ironhorses. The fit reasonably well with minimal slip. As our horses musculatures change we have occassionally needed to make adjustment. But are not have near the fit issues we had with the Crown Cs.

I cannot tell you anything about which fits like a Double J because I think the Double Js are atrocious! They killed my hips when I tried them.

I dont have experience with double j's but I called Martin last week as I am looking at the FX3 and he told me all the barrel saddles are on their 99 degree angle bar tree, just the different gullets. Same trees but the fit is different for the rider. I liked the FX3, tried a BTR which people seem to prefer. It was a little small but i didnt mind that one either.
