Is it a certain amount of runs that horse has had? Won a certain amount of money? Been on barrels for a certain amount of time? What does seasoned mean to you? I know every one has a different idea about what these things mean and I am just curious what people’s thoughts are?
Do you mean when a horse is considered seaoned or when they are far enough along for a novice rider?
No when the horse itself is no longer considered a novice horse ie you consider that horse seasoned to competition.
A lot of clubs will have a specific definition, usually it's by money won. (Can compete in a Novice division if they haven't won $500)
Yes I know this I am just curious when people consider a horse to be seasoned. A horse that has made 20 runs? 50? Is consistent with times etc? When do you consider a horse to no longer be green on the pattern?
When a horse can go to a strange arena and find "most" of the barrels on his own without a whole lot of help from the rider, in my opinion, is a seasoned horse. He might not make his best run in a new arena, but he is looking for them and trying.
When I'm 99% sure I'm not going to look like a dumbass that never should have entered.... that number of runs is diffrent for every horse.
