Has anyone done these for stifle issues? What kind of results did you see? How long did it take to see results?
A little background, I had done a lesson to help get my mare to use her hind end more. She worked hard that day. The week that followed she showed some soreness in her left hind (she was not extending out like she should). She also started "falling in a hole" on her hind end. I had my vet out the following week but he was not able to see anything, but I had her hocks done that day but it didn't really change anything (He is a good local lameness vet). The falling in the hole became less and less but still happened. And of course she wasn't performing like she should. So back to the vet we went and thats when he suggested the ECP shots.
I used this for my gelding I used to have. It worked great for him and he didn't have any further issues. If I remember correctly we did a loading dose once a week for a month and then monthly injection from then on out. I noticed a significant improvement after the loading dose.
This is exactly how i described to my Vet for over a year when my mare would occasionally feel like she stepped in a hole with her right rear leg. We had hocks and stifles injected, vet said to put rear shoes on her. Still happening occasionally. Her performance began to decline. She still tried hard, but hesitating at the first barrel and stepping off at the third. Vet ultrasounded, said meniscus strain and more stifle injections and 2 months off. One more round of stifle injections and I decided to get a second opinion. New vet x-rayed - she has floating chips and a bone spur in the right stifle. Surgeon said chances of successfully removing chips and restoring soundness was unlikely. Thankfully she is bred well and is now in foal to a Pink Buckle stallion.
I would suggest getting x-rays as a base and perhaps an ultrasound.

I'm sorry to hear that!
I have completed the 3 shot series and I will say my mare is 90% better and only occasionally "steps in a hole." Honestly I am surprised. I went to a race this weekend and I feel like I have my horse back! I will continue to do excercises with her that help strenghten the stifle.

I would rather just do an internal blister, tighten the ligament and go on.
If you feel your horse catching (stepping in a hole) , chances are he’s doing it a lot more than you realize, which will cause fluid to build and soreness in the joint itself.
