In my opinion , only way to go. I had a 6'9" wide for years and my big gelding was chewing himself up in the trailer. Just cramped. Bought and 8' and doesn't even need his legs wrapped anymore.

For sure - 8' wide only way to go.  Our horses love it

Only cons I know of are traveling on winding roads with little to no shoulder, one tire is near the ditch and the other is on the line.

This is why I could never make myself get one. I get enough anxiety hauling on winding roads with a 6-7 ft wide trailer, I'd probably have a coronary if I were hauling an 8 foot wide trailer.

I tend to travel a lot of miles on tribal land and I swear they have no shoulder; scares the bejeezus out of me. I drive like a granny, clutching the wheel, that my knuckles hurt, by the time I exit the reservation. LOL

We have owned both ..... I would get the 7' wide for the reasoning above. IF you live or have to travel on narrow winding roads, an 8' is intense. Also, your mirrors have to be set out further on the vehicle ...... most people don't realize that you can give the horse more room (to compensate) in a 7' by adding 2' length and a deeper angle to the stall .....

My favorite was my 7 1/2' wide.  (have had LQ trailers in 7', 7 1/2'  & now 8' wide).  It was easier to see around, traveled well behind the truck & horses had plenty of room.

Axles are 102" wide whether the trailer is 7 or 8. It makes a difference to being able to see behind yourself, but a 7 literally doesn't fit any better than an 8 on narrow roads. It's all in your head.

8ft makes a world of difference in living quarters.  also you can have deeper mangers.  Love the 8ft

I totally just had a *facepalm* moment at myself. I realize this, but you're right. It's totally in my head.
