I just went thru this exact scenario and it was tough. I didn’t use any calming supplements, but I had to make sure I kept a horse penned up next door with him or he would lose his mind. He has graduated to a bigger pen and I am keeping my mini donkey with him and that keeps him pretty happy.

I will forewarn you, it’s a long 2 months.  I hated having to hand walk him bc he was like a fire breathing dragon every time.

Also. If your vet suggests stem cell, I highly recommend doing it if you can. It has made a significant improvement on my horse.

Talk to your vet about Zylkene or powder Reserpine.

Currently going through it.

I started her In a pen, maybe 12x40. She couldn't handle that. Exhausted herself pacing 24 hours a day for two weeks. So she got moved to a stall. She's stall walking some but it's not the frantic pacing from before.

I move her to another pen to clean her stall and the pacing starts instantly. I think it's OCD at this point. She also can't have hay to keep her occupied which is making everything worse. My vet told me about another client who hung a jolly ball then coated it in molasses to keep a horse entertained. I'm going to try that one today.

That's on reserpine with a mini pony friend next door. My vet actually bumped up her dosage Friday.

The walking is actually OK. You can practically see her talking to herself to keep her act together and be good.

I had a 2 year old stud colt on stall rest for a tendon two years ago. MVP Calmex-V kept the edge off & kept him quiet in the stall & while hand walking

Engage from Stride Animal health. You can do a paste or powder in feed.

If you have a PHT blanket, or a poll pack it will help tremendously.
