| Do you like a pencil roll on your saddles? Why or why not? Do they serve any kind of purpose besides personal style? THANKS! |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | Nothing special about them just a personal perference, if you like the look then have one, me I really dont care for them so never had one on any of my saddles that I had built, they are cool looking but just not what I want.. I think it would be a tad hard to pick up a saddle to throw up on your horse with a pencil roll, theres nothing to grab onto.. But thats just me

Location: Kansas | I had a ranch cutter with a pencil roll, I loved riding in it...but sadly the gullet was just too wide for my girls. My next barrel saddle I plan on making sure it has a pencil roll. |

| I think it's helps hold my old butt in the saddle :) That's why I like mine. |

| I have heard that if you order one with a pencil roll that the seat sizes don't ride the same, is this true? I can't remember if the person told me to go up or down a half size |

Location: Too far from home | I like the look of the pencil roll, but am agree that they are harder to throw on a horse. Yeah, you can grab the skirt and would probably get used to that pretty quick, so it's a picky thing for me to complain about. |

Location: North Dakota | I won a saddle this year that had a pencil roll. I did not like the fell of it on the back of my thigh. The shape and deepness of the seat itself was fine, but that "edge" where the cantle connects to the fenders, would dig into my thigh. I could tolerate it but it wasn't as comfortable as my other saddles without a pencil roll. JMO |
