Which is a good one, my poor horse wants out in the big pasture so bad... hes cut off now to a smaller trap because hes on a diet and our pasture has already taken off in growth. I'd like to turn him out for a few hours. Hes under strict orders from the vet. I'd like a muzzle that will breakaway if he gets hung on something but not something he can just rub off either. There are so many out there I've never had to use one before so I'm not sure of which brands will hold up
My horse can't have any of the round bale hay (that's in every pasture), but I wanted him to be in a big pasture with grass and buddies, so I got him this one...

It fit nicely and was easy to take on and off, even with him playing rough. I will say/warn though, he ate enough of the round bale hay he's not allowed to have that he colicked after 3 days out there. They are persistent creatures and he was tenacious enough to get way too much through that little 1" hole in the bottom!

Thank you. I know he has an incredible work ethic when it comes to eating! But if I can just get something that'll slow him down for a few hours itll help him out and let him have that freedom to move around in the pasture like a normal horse does.
My daughter's pony has to wear a muzzle. I've tried them all and the one that seems the most comfortable for him is the greenguard muzzle. It's a little pricey but worth it the extra money.

Thank you. I ended up buying this one last night .. they had the fastest shipping. Hopefully itll work good. With this rain he wont be getting out till probably next week sometime anyway. Right now lunging him in the least muddy part of the yard is all I can do. https://www.valleyvet.com/ct_detail.html?pgguid=6ce3f035-7cb3-11d5-a...
So after trying that muzzle, it didnt work very well. It is heavy and seemed difficult to let air in. I found Harmany Equine grazing muzzles. This one is so light and airy! It attaches to a breakaway halter and is customizable to fit your horses muzzle perfectly. You heat up the muzzle and can shape it perfectly. My sister in law bought one for her horse who has to wear it a lot because she foundered on the grass. Shes thrilled with it, it doesnt rub or chaff her horse, her horse is a Houdini and cant get this one off, doesnt try to actually, because its extremely light and easy on them. Veterinarian designed and better yet, made in the USAattaches with velcro strips so its adjustable up and down and you can attach the sides with zip ties or shoelaces if you need to. Its sturdy and well made. I wont feel bad in the heat of the summer leaving this on my horse in the pasture. I just wanted to share with yall
