| If anyone knows the brand and type of shoe you put on your horse please respond with info. I've run into the issue of no farrier in the area who is reliable AND knows how to shoe a barrel horse. Balance is balance, but I'm not putting eventers on Love! Like my new farrier but he's only done the local h/j/foxhunters and put a flat shoe on her this past time that I will have to have changed before running. But I want to get the info to him on a brand and type so he can order in for next appointment. TIA |

Location: Illinois | I actually have used eventers on mine a lot in the past lol. We used St Croix rims some as well. My current farrier makes his own shoes and mine get completely custom creations now |

I don't have a preference between aluminum or steel. There is benefits to each but usually the cost of steel is enough less to go with that. If I was aiming for the 1D money I'd go with aluminum for any weight benefit it could give. |

My only worry for eventers with Love is that she is fine boned. I don't want her to seriously hook up around a barrel, but I do want her to have a little bit of groove to work with. If that makes sense. If it were Zan with his foundation bone I think eventers would be fine. You'd have to take a sledge to him to hurt that bone! |

There's a few in my area that do. Mine has been doing the blacksmith competitions for years & he's very good. Complete perfectionist when it comes to making them and putting them on. I have one now that's got a creation of a rim shoe crossed with a side bone shoe. My horse hits harder on the outside and always has brusing. So its thinner on the outside edge of the hoof and still has the rim for traction most of the way around. And also factored in for his navicular. It's really cool and he doesn't charge a ton extra for them vs the regular shoes he makes standard. My mare just gets his version of an eventer when I have shoes on her. |

| I use different shoes based on each horses style. And I have used Eventers on some. They do have some give with good breakover ability and a flat heel. So not a shoe I'm afraid of at all, especially on the front (albeit they're heavy). I've used and like a lot of brands in varying shoes: Kerckhart St. Croix Thorobred Victory I'm not a fan of Diamond brand shoes. |
