Hi all! So I purchased my corriente barrel saddle last year mistakenly thinking it was going  to be anything like my old one. I knew when I rode in it the first time something didn’t feel right and I should have known then.  Has anyone ever had problems keeping their balance and feeling thrown forward and like their legs are gonna behind them in these saddles? And what do you recommend to be in the market for next time. Super interested in the Jeff Smith C3 and Double Js. Just curious if this is a known problem for the corrientes now?!

Mine is a rope saddle but, yes, it does push me forward. It is great for roping (since I need to be forward) but to just ride around I only like it on an uphill built horse. My next one will probably be a ranch cutter since those typically put your legs more forward and I want one just to ride colts in.

I bought a new one in 2018. First time a horse offered a little baby buck and I wasn't expecting it, my feet flipped right behind me. It was scary almost. I could've reacted better for sure, but there was SO MUCH movement in the fenders my feet could get so far back. I never made a competitive run in mine, and I sold it last week.

On the other side, it came feeling very soft and supple and there was hardly any break in period. It fit a variety of horses, but nothing wide.

All I can say is.... I'm giving mine away just about. I HATE it. My horses are good tempered and they act like they they want to rear up all the time when it's on. So it's leaving as soon as I find someone who wants it.

Lol I hated the one I had. It was an older trophy model before the "newer" styles came along. I couldn't unload that thing fast enough. #sorrynotsorry

Jeff smith or double j would be good choices for sure! There are a lot of others too
