| So we recently moved to a new place, it's amazing and has SO MUCH GRASS! It's tall (knee high in spots). The horses are so happy, that's the good part. The bad part is my older gelding has developed what looks like 'scratches' on his back legs. A couple of the other horses have it too, but not as bad as him. My other horse doesnt have any at all and looks totally fine. I've heard of this but never dealt with it. Any tips or tricks to get rid of it? I put shoo fly leggins all around after I washed his legs off, dried them, and put corona ointment on, when normally I just use them on the front because they rip their tails. Figure better to have a ripped tail than scratches. Help! ETA: I board, they said they are cutting the grass this weekend (which is probably most of the issue as I understand from a pretty quick google search) after I mentioned that some of the other horses had them too.

Location: Oklahoma | I have one horse that gets this off and on and my grass super short, it does seem to come on with dew or moisture in the grass. Not sure. Anyways my vet said to use atheletes feet ointiment. and the trick is to do it early on so they dont develop more and sore them up and then its hard to get rid of seems like. |

| Equiderma lotion! My vet had me use it on my mares leg crud and running her tail. Instant relief and took the leg crud away I'm 2 days. GONE. |

Location: mn | The absolute best thing I have found to get rid of scratches is saurkraut. I laughed when someone told me about it, until I tried it. We did it like a sweat wrap. It stinks and it's gross, but it's crazy how well and fast it works. And cheap |

| Desitin diaper rash ointment. You can buy a large tub at Walmart. |

Location: Tulsa, Ok | Symbioti Ag wash works also. I always have a sprayer full mixed up, so it is very easy to just spray legs. |

| Symbiont is good but I have found Equate diaper rash ointment works best. It has zinc oxide in it that any other brand and is cheap. Baby section at Walmart. |

| We finlly had to put the horse on antibiotics. He was in a dry lot so it wasn't from grass. I can't remember if the vet had him spray it with something or not. I had tried all the other things prior to the vet call. several years later and the hair still doesn't grow in all the way and still has slight swelling. |

Location: South Dakota | Grooms Hand Solution took care of a very stubborn case of Scratches , and Deep Sulcus Thrush...works great for knocking it out, and maintaining as needed. Coat Defense Paste is also good to get Scratches...gone. |
