Just curious how many companies are doing like my company.  We was very blessed to get paid during shutdown! When we was called back not everyone came back.  Supposedly the ones that are high risk or living with someone that high risk could still stay home and get paid.

We have been open well over a month now and they are still getting paid to stay home.

What gets me is on FB they post how they been going to the lake and you know how many germs in the lake...

And meeting other co-workers for lunch and hanging out and partying sometimes.

no one knows how long our company will keep allowing this.  This blows my mind! and the ones that did come back we are not treated fairly.  It has turned into such a buddy system and doesnt matter bout seniority or having no points (we have a point system)  Our place of business has changed drastically.

I know that this world is turning into what is right is wrong and wrong is right but I just cant wrap my brain around this!

By the way I did do stuff during our shutdown I didnt hang out (I just rode my horse at home and tried to get my knew place ready), but company is the one that sent us home at that time, so I get people doing things during that time but not when we are open and you say your high risk but you do other things that put you in high risk.

We have one girl that her and boyfriend lives with her parents, well the husband came back to work but she didnt. but they live in same household. Husband on the floor with customers! and her dept. she not around customers just 5-6 employees.  I dont get that either and she is one of the ones float trip, and bunch of other stuff.

Now there is a couple that are staying home and they a very high risk! Like one has cancer and going thru treatments, and another has heart and kidney issues.  They are being very careful.

This is the problem with all of the exceptions that companies are making because of the virus.  There are really good people who have never stopped working and others who are taking advantage of loosened attendence polices.  People criticized my company for offering bonus money for good attendance, even though they relaxed the attendance policy to encourage team members who are sick to stay home.  The company was also criticized when they set the attendance policy back to normal a few weeks ago.   It is difficult for companies to police this.

Can you make a complaint to the HR Department?

Is the company I work for the only one doing this? Surely not.

Now they have sent home bout  3-4 because 1 tested positive but we was all around her (they didnt send us all).  They are not paying the ones they sent home and they have to stay 14 days! even if tested negative and has no temp or symptoms, not get paid while the others that never came back still gets paid.  It should be the same for all especially if you are negative and want to work but your company wont let you.

It will probably get to where people wont say if they tested positive or not and when they call in to not come in bc they sick I bet they dont say they sick.

There one department that works in small room bout 4-5 people and we are no longer able to take breaks with more than 1 person  even the 4-5  that are already together all day.  Im all bout taking extra precautions but not when it makes no sense.

I never understood the 10 or less! If one person has it, doesnt matter!  It just takes one!

Anyways I am grateful for a job!

I feel bad for the ones that got sent home no fault of their own! and not get paid!

Sounds like some shenanigans to me. I hate it when companies (or management) don't just treat everyone the same across the board.  I get that circumstances vary from person to person but be fair to everyone dangit.

My company started looking to downsize as soon as this poop broke out. The employee manual is so HR'd that it gave them every excuse very easily. There was nothing you could do if they wanted you gone. Stupid stuff. And this is why I will remain a rule breaker for my life -- rules are some little persons idea of how to control. This companys rules were so off the chart - but legal - that at any time they had cause to terminate.

I was let go April 20 and have still not seen one dollar of unemployment. I'm even eligible - employer is not arguing - but if you weren't in the first round of layoffs/terms you are probably not getting anything. Cannot get a human on the phone and the message given is that all reps are busy and to call back another time. I've spent days trying to call every 15-20 minutes. No humans available. I'm just glad I've got enough to feed the horses without a job or the unemployment. But it makes me wonder how the heck a single parent or a family is being able to keep their life rolling?? I know I'm not the only one since I've had discussions with many through FB. Can you imagine how bad it would be to try to feed your family with NO way of getting any money?

There will always be people who will work the system to get every free dollar they possibly can for doing nothing. That's just the way society is today. It really does blow my mind the stupidity of some people.

When this whole thing hit, cooperation's all across the board started scrambling, because no one ever foresaw anything like this, or knew quite how to handle the actual logistics of it. Some companies handled it really well, some did not. I work in the private sector of corrections. We all are of course required to come to work every day, pandemic or not lol. When we first started screening people, the information we got from our cooperate leadership was that if they answered yes to ANY of the symptoms they would be denied entry, forced to self-quarantine, and had to use their PTO during that time (this was prior to having the option to be tested for covid). Within a few days corporate came up with a better game plan, and our procedures changed to allow entry of people who had symptoms but could be attributed to prior medical issues such as asthma or allergies. People who were sick were put on paid leave but required to have a Covid test immediately and could return upon a negative result. Our policies have continued to change as information has and as testing became available here. Overall, our company has done a really good job of taking care of its employees. Every now and then we have staff that try to work the system, don't go get tested immediately trying to get free paid time off and such, but its not a huge issue.

Now were facing another issue entirely. We are going through a change in contract and shipping out all of our inmates. Until a new contract is secured, staff who choose not to transfer to another facility will lose their jobs in a couple of months. While they will be eligible for unemployment, i can't even begin to imagine the headache they will have trying to get it.
