| What are you feeding your easy keepers? I recently switched my 20 year old to Renew Gold, from Tribute Essential K, GC. While I have only had him on it about a month, I love how he seems to have more shine to him, but he also seems to be fatter. I ride usually 5 days a week and one of those days includes a rodeo or barrel race. |

| My fatty is getting about a pound of Triple Crown 30 balancer per day (split into 2 feedings) and is still fat. |

Location: Rc | Usually feeds for easy keepers are low in fat. I know many horses do well on Ration Balancers. I know Triple Crown Balancer 30 and Purina Enrich 32 are really popular. Before I got my barrel horses, I had my others on Stamm 30. It's a ration balancer made my Hallway Feeds, but it's really hard to get. If you're wanting to stay away from ration balancers, I would recommend Triple Crown Lite. It's really low in fat, and you only have to feed about 2 pounds a day. I've also had really good success with Purina Strategy GX, but I know many people on this forum who haven't. What's your forage situation like?

How much of the Renew Gold are you feeding him and what are you adding to his feed? I feed my easy keeper Triple Crown Lite with a cup and a half of Alfalfa pellets twice a day along with his hay. |

Location: Illinois | Mine just gets 2 flakes of alfalfa, and 1/2 of the 3qt scoop of alfalfa and beet pulp pellets mixed together. 2x a day. No grains or ration balancers. He's on Exceed 6 Way too. All my horses eat that, except one gets some Kalm n Ez too for weight, he's 27. But I recently switched to this grain free type diet (except the one horse) and they're doing super well so far. You might be able to get away with that if he's that easy of a keeper. You can always get him a vitamin/mineral supplement thats cheap |

Location: Willows, CA | If your horse is carrying too much condition with Renew Gold, simply reduce it by 1/4 to 1/2 pound per day. You still get the value of better digestive efficiency. |

1 pound a day Renew Gold and a couple supplements. Actiflex, K&C Plus, and I add some electrolytes after a race or if he gets a good work out during the week. |

| I had him on Tribute Essential K, which I thought was a ration balancer, but his hoofs and his hair coat were not looking the best, that is why I switched. So far his mane and tail are not as dry and brittle, and his coat is glossier than before. He was getting dull looking. |

He looks wonderful!!! Are you feeding the one pound all in one feeding or half in the morning and half in the evening? Alfalfa hay will add weight too, or you feeding all alfalfa hay are alfalfa mixed with grass hay? He does look really good, maybe just cut back on the renew feed. |

He looks good so I would not change up his diet. If the pasture is in really great shape as in alot of good green grass that could be where his weight is being added. |

Location: North Dakota | I started feeding 1lb Purina Enrich Plus and a little bit of flax to get some omega 3's in since my boy can't be on grass. This is the most complete and cost effective feed I've found for easy keepers. I'm in the process of switching my 1.5yo onto it as well. |
