So they used to launch these big Saturn rockets for the Apollo missions and the space shuttles.  The first two stages would just break apart and burn up once they were used.  Space-X literally recycles and re-uses these.  They build these big barges that are drones, designed as recovery platforms at sea. They use rocket propulsion to slow the boosters when they are falling.  They then land the boosters onto the drone recovery platforms.  They save tens of millions in doing this.  This kind of ingenuity is the beauty of public/private partnerships. How cool is this?

I don't know about in sub-freezing temps but, if you're not actively driving, the draw on an electric car battery is really small. It's why Tesla's can have things like "dog mode" where the a/c runs and keeps the car cool for hours.

Once they figure out the electric semis, I'd be reeeaaaall tempted. The sheer amount of torque they generate can get some weight moving quick-like.

it's almost like they should use electric motors in trains

When I go to the post office in the morning, right across the street is a charging station.  It must take a long time because people are either sitting there reading a book or leave their cars sitting.

Nope !!!!

That would be an excellent idea. Somebody should come up with that.
