Ex is trying to say 8 to 10 doses of frozen semen from an as of yet unproven stallion is worth $30,000 as is the stallion himself.
But I don't want to get screwed by an appraiser that doesn't truly understand either.
There is are legitmate horse appraisers out there. Ask for references from a ranch manager you know.
Personally, I think those doses are only worth the stallion's stud fee. That's it. I don't think a judge would base value on 'potential', just actual value as of today.

My thoughts on value too. And not even worth that until it is utilized and proven to get a mare in foal IMO
I would think that a judge would probably value them at the vet costs for collection, prep and freezing them. Saying that because you own the horse and there is more semen hanging around so to speak. Those costs are yor only tangible amounts to go by. A horse like Dash Ta Fame whose frozen semen is sold in a regular basis has some basis for price and what they have frozen is it. This is just my point of view but I think a non horsey judge will have no idea about frozen semen. Changes of getting a judge that has any idea of what is going on here are slim.
