I've been told to try these three saddles but I'm not sure which to try? double j #10, cactus cj record breaker or corriente.
Here is a link with his pics. He is out of shape from being hurt. Current saddle is a Jeff smith with a cutting tree it's ok but not perfect.

Double J all the way. I ride the Lynn Mckenzies but have rode several different types of double J and they are excellent quality. I can adjust my pad and my 2 saddles fit sooo many different styles of horses. They are great to work with. I have rode the corriente and felt like I was perched on top of my horses. I couldnt set down and get in their groove. Never rode a cactus.

A Double J #10 is made for horses built like this one, the saddle has a bit more rock to the tree for the horses that have a dip/sway like yours. I have a #10 Double J I use on my gelding thats got a sway, this is him.

You will hate I mean hate a #10 on a cow horse. It will not fit in any way. I would recommend Lynn McKinzie from Double J. It fits all my cow bred horses.

I am glad you mention this! I have a cow bred 4 year old I am thinking I need a new saddle for. She's maybe 14.1 tall but so thick she wears the same size blanket as my 15.3 mare that's more race built. But I was overwhelmed with what to even start with looking at a new saddle!

For your horse i would say the Double J LM Wide, I use this on my more cow bred style horses and have no isses.  The #10 is for horses with more prominet withers like another poster mentioned.

Kind of just depends. I've rode in Double J LM saddles for 15 years but the mare I have now is short, round and downhill so it doesnt fit her. I've been riding her in a Cactus CJ for over a year and I like the way it fits her but I dont like how it rides. I talked with Robbie Phillips a few weeks ago and sent him pictures and really liked his input so I'm probably going that route next. Based on the pictures of your guy, I would say the Double J LM might fit him. The #10 would probably have too much rock. He's shaped a bit like my older mare (also short and stocky but she has good withers) and my LM fits her great! Here is a picture:

shes cute! Going by that pic the saddle is not level, looks too narrow making it go uphill at the front. But maybe its really not that way -hard to tell in pics. I bought a used Cactus CJ Record breaker to try. Years ago (before this horse) I had a LM regular and hated it, it was comfortable but the stirrup leathers and rigging drove me insane lol

Not a problem. I use the Double J Lynn on my thick and thin cow bred mares. It just fits.

I wouldn't put a #10 tree on this horse. Way too much rock for it. A Lynn Wide may work. I'd try a cactus before the corriente.

Actually no lol....that saddle fits that mare just fine. I bring my saddle pads up high at the withers (because your supposed to) and this was right aftter saddling so that may be why it looks that way to you. Good luck!
