| so I'm tentatively looking for a different pickup. more of a work truck type. Found one with a salvage title. I'm guessing it was a non payment, or a repo truck. Any pro or cons to those? Also we would probably pull our trailer with it sometimes. Are there any types to avoid? years? brands? Thanks

if it is a salvage title it is just that a salvage vehicle.
It's been wrecked, flooded etc. if it's cheap enough might be worth it, but it better be really cheap. |

Then it had better be cheap to begin with....................... And I have been through the lost/no title song and dance. The process is a royal PITA. |

Years ago my father-in-law bought a salvage title car. It had been in a flood. He was a handy mechanic, so he was able to go through the engine and it ran great, but it stank. I hated to ride in it. Smelled like dirty river water. |

My husband is a Mechanic and we have bought a few trucks with salvage titles and they came from a wrecking yard/junk yard, we know a few owners and a few trucks would come into their yards in perfect shape never been wrecked but were in a flood, he didnt want to part them out because of their condition, so we bought one of them it was Ford 3/4 ton very nice truck, husband went over the motor and I cleaned the heck out of it, the whole truck was under water. That was the best truck, used it to haul all over the place with it, never no issues EXCEPT when you turned on the heater or air con, ha ha ha ha, dry mud would come out of the vents and get my clean truck seats dirty, was so funny. I really loved that truck drove it well over ten years UNTILL some drunk Illegals ran a stop sign and husband T-Boned them and total my truck. (The drunk illegals now thats a different story). It never had a bad odor just the dry mud that would shoot out the vents with air con or heater..

Location: west of East Texas | Might want to check and see what insurance coverage you can get on it also. My daughter has a Nissan Rogue with a salvage title to get to school and back and the only insurance coverage is liability, couldn't get full coverage. Car was cheap and fit the purpose. |

If it has no title then I would not even bother with it, but if a salvage title yes, no title then NO!! |
