Ok you brave Northerners, so we all know we are having a horrible cold week here in Tx. And I just noticed my trailer tackroom door is completely frozen shut. ( not much I can do because the ramp also is frozen so a little skating rink on it's own....).

I have a spaceheater going in the LQ compartment, so that should be fine, but what about the leather stuff in my tackroom, ie saddles and headstalls.... would I be better of trying to get the door open and store the stuff in the house, or since it is already frozen just leave it and let it thaw out once we warm up again?

I'm in Saskatchewan Canada and we get minus temps 6 months a year. My tack is in an uninsulated barn all year round and I've never had an issue. I clean and oil it good ever spring. But yours will be fine in trailer. Heck we had a blizzard to top all blizzards last month. When I opened my barn door the next morning my barn was half full of snow, my tack was covered in snow. ?? it was a mess. Used a cattle blower to blow all the snow off and tack is still fine. My biggest worry would be the water system in lq trailer. We winterize ours but if you keep a heater going you should be ok. Stay safe. We are used to this stuff and are prepared. I'm feeling bad for guys down south.

Thank you! That makes me feel better about it.

The weather is cold nowadays, so I use electric furnace in my home. Its really great tool for winter and I am happy that I bought that one  here  In summer  I want to change whole HVAC system in my home and install new one. Because old one works bad.

Our tack is in the trailer all winter.

You need to worry more about condensation when it warms back up.

My tack is kept in a unheated barn and I have never had any issues, besides if its cold when I ride, I'll go bareback- automatic seat warmer!

Thank you!

Luckily the tack compartment has a couple of ventilation spots, and the roof is insulated. So no problem with condensation!

Thank you! Didn't have any issues so was worrying for nothing. lol, no new thing there.... I'm a worry wart anyway.

Tried that a couple of years ago since that was what we used to do all the time growing up.... well, my boy didn't want anything to do with me (was wearing slicky ski-pants at the time) and as soon as I had 1 leg on his back and the other still on the mounting block he took off.... ended up bruising my tailbone so have not tried it again.... now I just don't ride when it's below 40°F/ 4°C....
