Location: NE Texas | I am local to their shop and have bought a roping saddle from them, but haven't custom ordered anything. I can tell you that their quality on the barrel saddles is top notch and the equivalent of a Jeff Smith or even Coats. They'll ride very balanced and the workmanship will be exceptional. Only reason I haven't ordered a barrel saddle from them is I am too impatient and don't have the time to wait to have one made. There is a used 14" on FB right now and I just missed a 15" that I wish i'd have bought. |

| Ohh good. I just fb messaged them to see what they quote me. I love my Jeff smith so if it’s anything like that I’ll be happy. The other brand I was thinking of getting was a Scott Thomas |

If you love your Jeff, definitely go with Green's over Scott. |

| I personally hated mine. I bought it used so I'm not sure if it's because the previous owner didn't take care of it but I thought it was not put together well and was cheaply made. I also felt like I couldn't get up out of the saddle to really hustle one and almost felt trapped when I rode in it which I hate. I know some people swear by them but this was just my own experience. |

Are you talking about the Mike Green custom ride saddles? Or a saddle made by Green Custom Saddlery? Have a picture of the saddle? I would be shocked to hear anyone say that anything coming out of Green Custom Saddlery in Greenville, TX is not put together well. Now the Mike Green Custom saddles I could see that being said and on an uphill horse I can see where they would be difficult to get out of. |

Might be the next one I buy Just looking at the Green Custom Saddlery saddles you can see the Quality in them, the tooling and craftsmanship of the saddle's look awesome. I have seen the Mike Greens and was never impressed with them, I think 3 different saddle makers make them. The few I have seen were a older Triple Creek, a Bethune Pro Rider and a frontier, didnt like them. Edited to add: I think theres a Caldwell Mike Green saddle also, I wonder why so many different saddlery's making them.

Location: NE Texas | The NEWER models of the Mike Green saddle called the Mike Green Custom Ride actually are pretty nice and really do ride super. Most are not very fancy and are made to be pretty lightweight, but they definitely put you in the right position during a run, especially on a stronger horse and if you tend to struggle to stay balanced or find yourself trying to pull yourself forward leaving a turn. Now that being said, you're not going to get the beautiful leather quality you would with someone like Green Custom or Jeff Smith, and saddles from Greens or Jeff will ride totally differently than the Mike Green Custom Ride and are put you in a completely different position during a run. The older Mike Greens made by Triple Creek, Frontier, and even Caldwell fit a horse and ride nothing like the newer Mike Green Custom Ride saddles they're making now. Not comparable at all in my opinion and ride nothing alike. |
