Hi all, I'm studying to be a teacher and we were given an assignment to do a lesson plan, but to be honest I'm not a good student and I don't know how to do it. Help me out.

Hello!

I have been teaching for 10 years and I love creating lesson plans.

Frist, you will want to know what standards you are going to be teaching. Depending on your state. I am in Washington so we have the Common Core. Write all the standards down. If it is too many pick the main ones.

Now, what is your goal for the students? How are they going to show what they learned? Is it going to be a test? Project? Keynote? Essay? Movie? Are you going to let them show you what they learned by allowing them to chose? I have given my kiddos a choice. For example, they have a menu to choose from. Could build something, poster, movie, paper, song. Allows students to use their gifts and skills to show case what they learned.

Next, you will want to answer these questions. How are you going to teach the content? How are your students going to learn the content? How long will it take.....one day or a week? Then you start to build your lesson.

Sometimes working backwards helps me. Reach out if you have more quesitons. You can email me at [email protected]

Ok this is the third time I have typed this!  Really bad internet. Find you a free lesson plan template-google it. I taught chemistry/physics. You get the very short version this time.
OBJECTIVE:  Students will define and identify elements and compounds.
REQUIREMENTS:  These are usually state mandated objectives. I usually just type the number like 6.3,6.4,8.1

PROCEDURE:  Define element and point out elements on the Periodic Table. Define compound and list differences. Show students the proper way chemical compound are written. Show examples of common elements:  copper, silver, nickel, etc. Show examples of common compounds.
PRACTICE:  Divde Smartboard into columns and have students list compounds and elements and compounds.
ASSSESSMENT:  Worksheet listing various compounds and elements. Students identify each as compound or element.
CLOSURE:  Have students identify ways compounds and elements are different. Do not use what I wrote or they will know you didn't do it.  Pick your subject and choose something simple.  Here are suggestions. Kindergarten naming colors.  Ag breeds of beef cattle. Art- balance.  Just find a free template, download it and type in what you need.  I hate doing lesson plans but I have been lucky and worked with teachers who liked to get everything lined out.  If you are that lucky, be gracious, follow their plans and if you have a question ask them.  43 years of teaching, I can do them in my sleep.

I might add that the last three years I taught, I taught EARLY GRADUATION. I Had to be proficient in every subject taught in the high school. Everything was online in the computer so I didn't really have to do lesson plans. I learned a whole new vocabulary which isn't particularly a goood one. They do frown on you using words like the little turds or schit heads. I will say that group of students understood me a lot better when I used their vocabulary!  Little sarcasm there.
