Location: Mountains of VA | Have a colt with a “3 finger” umbilical hernia. Estimate to fix it is $2000-$2500!!! Thoughts? Seems high- right now it is not a problem just some fat protruding.

How old is the colt? 3 fingers is pretty big, if it were just a pinky size hernia it would not concern me much, butttt it being a 3 finger, I think I would be looking to get it fixed, have you check prices with other vets? |

Location: Mountains of VA | colt is 5 months old, to just look at him you would not think it was that big. Not our breeding so we are not wanting to go that far into a hole. Will be checking around on prices. |

You most likely can get it done cheaper,it does not hurt to shop around for sure. |

Location: Tulsa, Ok | At the end of April we had yearling gelded. At the same time my vet repaired an umbilical hernia and took out a couple of wolf teeth. Total bill $300.

Location: Da Booshes | I have one with a "three finger" as well. I've been quoted $600 by the local clinic and $1250 by the equine hospital that requires the colt to come in the night before surgery, blood work, etc. I'm sure it's more if they feel the colt needs to stay the night after surgery for monitoring. |

Do you do what we do---push it up in and clamp it ? |

Location: Mountains of VA | Have a quote of $1000, colt is scheduled for 11/9. Hopefully all goes well and it will be less to fix. |
