We are about to start construction on our new barn and we are going to have cameras placed in each stall as well as the outside of the barn. We are leaning towards the NEST outdoor cameras because the picture quality seems to be amazing. Has anyone had any experience with these? Any other brand you would recommend?

I've never used cameras, but I have several friends who have & they all used a little tip with them...visibly number your cameras, but don't number them in sequential order. If there's 4 cameras do like 1,2,5,7 or something. If someone comes in unwanted and notices they can only find some of the cameras they may be a little less likely to do anything not knowing where the rest are. Just an interesting idea, can't probably prove if it works or not but it could. Especially if the monitors to the camera aren't available for them to see either

I have nest cameras on a 2nd property. I like them to randomly check on things. If you have all notifications on tho, it can drive you crazy! I like being able to set the notification to recognize people, not just a leaf blowing or something. Love them!

Actually, at the moment I'm thinking of installing a security system into my stables and barn. I plan to set cams around them and inside the buildings. A burglary took place in my region this summer. It's not a frequent event but I want to protect myself and my household. I was advised to get hold of the Ajax systems because cams, alarms can be monitored via your smartphone which is extremely handy and their solutions are wireless. But before choosing this option I want to collect other opinions. What do you think of it?

When I put cameras in my barn I didn't want to spend a lot money. I got Wyze brand cameras from amazon. They are about $30 each and work great! I put in an SD card and they work on the wifi at my barn. The only trouble I have is when I close the north garage door and it interferes with the wifi signal. I like the idea of numbering them.

Just installed the Blink outdoor cameras.  Price isn't too bad and they work on wifi.  Currently only have 3 but may get a couple more.  So far they work pretty well.  The only drawback is the range from base is only about 100 feet.  200 feet would be better as we have a long drive.

Notifications can be turned off, you can set up zones for each camera, video and photo taking, and how sensitive the motion detector is.

We have the Nest cameras and really like them. My only complaint is that sometimes it takes the app a minute to load on my phone; so I get a notificiation that something is happening, then have to wait for it to load. That's also probably my fault though, keeping 76 apps open on my phone. lol

Zero complaints on the camera though, I like how I can zoom in or turn on the mic and talk to the horse, it's really handy.
