I was running my four year old mare this weekend and we made some good runs then went we went in for another run she stopped listening at my first barrel and took off and threw me into a fence. We're both ok and we have a barrel race later tonight and I want to make sure that it doesn't happen again. Maybe she was just hot headed and excited because she was running or maybe there is something I can do?

How many runs did you make on her that weekend before she threw you? 

Why were you making multiple runs? 

A 4 yo is still a baby, really.  One run is sufficient.  If you made me run multiple times after I'd done it correctly the first or second time, I'd throw you off too!!
