Today is
i bought my first living quarters trailer today. Wahoo!! She didn't have the keys for the back tack, the back door to the horses area, and the doors to the storage under mangers. She also doesn't know for sure if she had the key to the LQ area but thinks it is on her husbands key ring and will send it to me. No big deal it's a used trailer so I know keys get lost. I know i can buy the latches/locks for the tack and back loading door online but what about the door on the lq and mangers? Is there any way I can bring it somewhere and get them all replaced to have the same key for all locks? It's a CM if that makes any difference.
You might check with any local trailer dealerships because (back in the day) most trailers were only keyed with a dozen different keys. Would be worth a check. I was at the Quarter Horse Congress and locked my keys in the trailer....long story short the neighbor several trailers over tried their key and it worked.
Call the manufacturer. They might be able to supply the keys.
I've also been told, there are only a limited number of keys for trailers and RVs. You might be able to go to an RV or trailer dealer and try out all their keys.
I bought my platinum used and called them directly gave them the vin number and they were able to send my keys for everything. It was a smooth easy task and should be the same for you assuming the locks have never been changed. Good luck.
There should be a number under the key hole. That will tell the company what keys you need. I imagine that you will have two different numbers, one for the LQ and another for all the other doors. I'm thinking they will be an AO0013 or 15 but not positive without looking.
