Subject: Secretariat offspring?

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know of any Secretarit offspring that were crossed with race bred quarter horses and are running barrels? Combined with the right mare or stallion, I think that might have been an interesting combo. Not only was he dirty fast, Red didn't even LOOK like a thoroughbred! He had a pretty face, unlike some tb's I've known. He also wasn't skinny like most... ??

All I can remember is he was a broodmare sire in the TB world.

If you remember he was a freak of nature. Not only was he big and stout his heart was a lot bigger than other TB's almost 3 times bigger. I haven't ever heard if this followed through to any of his off spring but it would be very interesting to know.

Out of 663 named foal,  341 won at the track and 54 became stakes winners. Secretariat never produced a male offspring to carry on as a leading sire, but his daughters more than took up the slack.Mar 31, 2019

Unfortunately he didn't produce much of anything. As stated above, he was known for being a broodmare sire. He had good speed, but over a distance. If you were going to breed something, I'd personally breed to a sprinter thoroughbred, then you'd get actual speed for short distance like barrels. Also just had to hit the point of, didn't look like a thoroughbred cause they're all skinny. Most of the tbs are actually not skinny. The backyard horses that aren't being fed properly are skinny. This is my full TB gelding below -

And these are just a few random tb stallions at stud

They aren't skinny, they are just built different than the average qh.

I ran 3 great grandbabies of his, they were all out of the same dam who was a grand daughter of his on her top side.  Mine are all incredibley intelligent, the smaller mare is 18 and her first 3-4 running steps still scare the bejeus out of me, the big mare is dirty fast and the gelding is big and powerful with a stride that a lot of people thought "oh, that was a pretty run, too bad he isn't faster..." and then they'd announce his time. The bigger the pen, the better. He was built for Pendleton and loved it there. The little mare can run on any type of ground, the big mare is super ratey and the gelding is the most honest animal you could ever hope to throw a leg over,  show all of them something a time or two and they have it.  Hadn't run the big mare in almost 11 years due to a trailer accident that she came out of with Head Shaker syndrome, trotted her down the creek to an arena that decided to host a gymkhana. Not only she did eat up the barrel pattern, she almost lost me at the 2nd barrel, she remembered and ate up the other 2 events I stayed for, even remembering when I didn't which direction she ran them, LOL!!! Like I said, INTELLIGENT!!!  The gelding I showed reined cow horse also as well as ranch horse versatily .

Secretariat as a lot of people know was a freak, you can't neccisarily breed for those and I think early on they figured they could breed him to a donkey and get a runner.  His strengths came out later thru his mare lines.  Find those.

First 2 photos are the gelding, 2nd two are the "little" mare who is 15.1 but little at our place and the last 2 photos are the big mare and her first run in 11 years.

I have two and between the two of them they have 4 world championships in three different registries including AQHA. They also happen to go back to Seabiscuit and Aforethought. A friend recommend one of mine to someone for sale for the guy's daughter. They looked at the mare and thought she was thin and didn't have a big hip. I will let you be the judge. Not sure I can attach a photo!

I don't understand the question. Do you have an offspring of Red and want to breed? Can we see the papers? We had Secretariat in a gelding. He was super fast at local rodeos. He was a grandson on dams side but he had a nice race winning qh dad on the top side.
