To be honest, my horse didn't really show signs of EPM other than an occasional trip (which could be due to his bum knee) and just personally feeling something was off. (Passes a vet check with flying colors) But I treated anyway. He seems to be trippping less but one thing I noticed is he used to be really fidgety with his hind legs for the farrier - horse is a saint so its not like he's ill behaved, just was uncomfortable. 2 weeks into the treatment and have the farrier out - not a single issue with his hinds like usual. Any one ever had that be a symptom? He's only got a few days left of the diclazuril compound and wondering if I should do another 30 days just in case or roll with the 30 day treatment he's about done with and see.

My gelding did that too.  He would just put the foot down.  He was always worse in the hot summer months.  He also would loose lots of muscle in his hind quarters.  He passed a vet check with flying colors too.  I keep him on his meds and he's a totally different horse now!  I've had him 13 years.  I hate that it took so long to figure out that it was EPM.  EPM SUCKS!!

I haven't had the farrier out, but mine has been standing square in the back when she's just hanging out. She's never done that before in the 5 years I've had her. She's 2 weeks into ponazuril. BUT she also had KS surgery this year and we injected her whole back end a month ago also. So could be either or a combo of both

Just finished a 30 day treatment on my guy. His symptoms were pretty subttle as well and my husband actually called me crazy until the vet confirmed that I should go ahead and treat. His symptoms were;

Weight loss (we first thought due to the move but not matter what we did he just continued to go down hill).

Occasional dragging of back toes at a walk.

One night half of his face looked "droopy" (went away and never happened again but made sure to get pictures for the vet).

All around just became moody. This is a gelding that I purchased when I was 8 months pregnant, unable to try out myself, but I let my sister in law who I trust try him for me and everyone that knows this horse (I mean everyyyyone) raived about how nice he was and how they would put their child on him no questions asked.... he was not that horse when I brought him home.

I would say treat if you can, it wouldnt hurt.
