I know, I feel for him too. I think she meant the most to him out of any of them. I was just referring to Dunn's somewhat recent hits of MCM, the performance loss of Sharpie, & now losing FLD too. I think it comes down to the individual, their habits, & how they handle digestive upset, I have a mare that's been impacted a lot because she will only drink 1-2 gallons of water a day and eats 3/4 bale of hay a day. If I salt the crap out of her food or give her an electrolyte she'll drink 8-10. When she almost died from a massive cecal impaction last december she acted completely fine, just had abnormal stomach cramping. Times before when she's just had some stuck in the pelvic flexure, she's been dramtic on the ground acting like she's near death. Had to lift her head off the ground to give her oral banamine. I think there's a lot of times that they just don't show signs. That day if I hadn't pulled her blanket off to ride her I would have never known and she'd have probably ruptured. The stress of the road on the rodeo trail would make it easy to colic |

I think it's worse with the super gritty tough ones, they are just so stoic and don't show pain until things have progressed to a dangerous level. |

https://equusmagazine.com/horse-care/surgery-prevent-colic-53404/ Interesting article of entrapement colic which does suggest why some horses are more prone to this type of colic and they have a surgery that helps prevent A mare I lost to colic was always prone to colic... more than others....I've every owned. And it really didnt' matter if she was at home or hauling...had her checked for everything under the sun trying to find a cause. And one of her colics was the entrapement. |

| I was shocked when my daughter text me the screenshot of that news yesterday. I hadn't been on my phone all day. How sad. I was looking on Facebook this morning and I saw that someone had asked what happened on a barrel racer page and she got jumped by someone telling her it was none of our business what happened and how dare she ask. Geez... so rude! She wasn't asking for all the details just didn't know why the mare passed. If I'm not mistaken the initial announcement was posted on SOCIAL MEDIA pretty much making it everyone's business. Why people need to be so rude and act like it's some huge secret we can't ask about. Obviously as barrel racers we all knew and watched FLD and were floored by the news of her passing. |

| Actually Summer Hatch started and patterned that mare. Dacota got her after that work had been done. Noone ever says anything about Summer and she deserves the credit. I think its BS that he takes all the credit for Lemon Drop. But hey.... karma will come eventually!!! It sucks that such a nice mare is gone. Prayers for the Dunns, the Hillmans and anyone connected with her. |

I saw that too....its normal for us to all ask what happened. And while looking back at her life also saw this was her second surgery which she recovered well. |

She posted some photos and videos of her on her Facebook from the early days .. you can tell she was destined to be great early on. What a tragic loss of such a young talented mare .. |
