Missouri dealer for Bluebonnet/Stride after feeding it for 2 years and driving right at 2 hours to buy a ton at a time prior to becoming a dealer. I started with Energized Performance b/c it was a locked ration formula AND open label. The bags are the same day in and day out at any location in the country. I know feed ProCare, Ultra Fat, Growth & Development depending on the use. To be completely honest, I don't feed much at all b/c of the hay I bring in.

The fact that a mill can change the formula daily at the "big" companies and you are not getting the same even though your buying the same feed is untruthful to me. I have fed Purina, whole oats, Renew Gold, OMNIS, custom mix, BOSS, ADM, cheap orcheln all stock, and I think everything else over the years. Even ear corn when I was little.

I raise a few babies and have young horses. I have yet to feed anything that has helped grow colts like Growth and Development or even the Horseman's Elite Mare & Foal. Even my dad switched to G&D after seeing my yearlings(HE FINALLY LISTENED TO COST PER DAY) from his custom mix. No uneven weird growth spurts, just consistent even good growth.

It should be extremely consistent mostly because it all comes from the same mill. Correct me if I'm wrong, but bluebonnet only has 1 mill, in Oklahoma.  Which, in my opinion, is a plus. With the exception of their ex factor. That's made somewhere else because it's extruded. I only know this because when I was feeding it I found cat food in 3 bags i purchased. The gal I spoke to and showed photos of the food and tags confirmed it was cat food and told me they have to have that particular feed made somewhere else because they didn't have the capability of making extruded feed at their own mill.  While my horse was no worse off or better off lol from eating little kitty crunchies it put me off that particular feed. I still think BB puts out a quality product and they are definitely 100% safe feed mill. But it did make me sorta giggle when the feed rep assured me the mill where the ex factor was produced held the same strict standards of quality control as their own mill. I suppose there are worse things to find floating around in your feed. Accidents happen, that's why it's so important to me to only try to feed, feed that comes from non medicated mills and BB is one. Tribute is another, I recently learned they have a whole facility dedicated to equine only feeds, same with buckeye and renew gold.

I like bluebonnet feeds. They don't make anything that is appropriate for my horses (one has PSSM-1 and the other is Metabolic) so I can't feed it but it's one of the better quality feeds on the market imo. As for BOSS, it won't hurt your horse but if you're trying to add weight or shine I would recommend something higher in omega-3's. BOSS is very high in pro-inflammatory omega-6's. Flax, chia seeds, or an oil like camelina, ahiflower, or flax oil would be a better choice.

What are you feeding your horses now?

The Ex-Factor is 10% NSC

Intensify Total Advantage is 11% NSC

Intensify Senior Therapy is 12% NSC

And Omega Force is like 15% NSC all of these are ok for PSSM1 horses
