Bought a used 4 star that ended up having severe water damage and the wood flooring that is used as a barrier from the aluminum deck and the actual interior flooring is completely rotten. Everything has to be completely ripped out and gutted in the trailer because of the severity of the water damage. Does anybody have any tips or tricks? On dealing with the situation like this. Thank you very much.

I had to replace our bathroom and shower in one and it was a pain in the ass!  I gutted it and then my BIL who is a contractor did the reflooring and replaced everything back.  He vowed never to take one on again!

We stripped the floor in a trailer we bought as a fixer upper. We stripped everthing down to the aluminum floor. We put a layer of plywood and then put the vinyl wood floor planks. I have a small weekender but it wasn't that bad of a project.

I don't know what the exact problem there was in a friend's trailer but she had to have a new floor put in. She had someone do it and from what I understand it was fairly expensive. I was surprised that she had someone do it because her husband can do anything.

It honestly isn't that hard to take out and replace.  It is time consuming.  There are a lot of FB pages and groups and vidoes that show you how.  Main thing is to work slow and not damage anything else.  My husband took ours out and replaced the plywood in the floor. Then we had a flooring guy replace the wood flooring.   He had all the tools to do it.

I would definitely join the FB group, Horse Trailer Conversion II. They have all the info in the files, plus you can ask for more info, etc.  If you are not sure where the leak is from to cause the floor to rot, you very well may have to rip out walls too to find all the rotten stuff (and elminate ANY mold), to make it safe for you.  I'd also check the roof for leaks or worn out caulking.  If it needs redone, don't just add some more, do it right so you are not having more issues.  (those directions are in the files too, but gist of it is to clean old stuff all off - might have to use a wire wheel to get it all off.  Then clean with alcohol or similar before recaulking with either Sika Flex 221 or Dicor Self Leveling.  Many put tape on each side of where they are going to apply it so it keeps it in a nice, neat line but not necessary w/either of those caulkings.
