| Have you had it change your horses personallity? Like going from a sweet mare that would walk up to you to one that is hateful? Sort of studly, snorty acting. |

My mare has been on it everyday for 8 years! LOL Yes, her heats , even in winter are that bad. It never changed her personality or anything other than making her HAPPIER. She is so happy to not have those cramps! LOL I have heard of people using it on geldings who were aggressive and it calmed them down. |

| Yep. My mare was acting very studdy while on it. Changed her personality a great deal. |

Totally agree! Mine was a super hard worker but her heats were out of this world uncomfortable for her. This was our last try before I would need to have her spayed. But luckily one little squirt in her moputh every day and she has been an angel ever since! |

Only reason that I put her on it was so that my gelding would stop mounting her when they were turned out. He was cut as a 4 or 5 year old and she seems to bring out those old memories in him. LOL Otherwise she wasn't bad at all when in heat. |

I'm using a compounded version and it is a shot every two weeks. |

Location: Oklahoma | I have one that I do the shot every other week. 1cc. It's not cheap, but worth every penny in my opinion. Made a world of difference. I think it's called Altrenogest. |

Altrenogest is the active ingredient in Regumate. I was going to use the shots once and my vet said it was not a good idea for performace mares because it made them muscle sore. So I never tried it! LOL |

I've been giving it for almost two years, on Mondays so if there is any soreness, she's over it before a weakend race. She had a lump and some heat once. I make sure to clean the injection site well. She normally runs middle of the 1D with tuff Oklahoma horses. This is way better then her squeeling and kicking at fences, other horses and air. She would bang her hip until it's raw in the barn or the trailer and pee everywhere. Good luck with whatever you try! |

I'm not the origional poster but I agree, my mare was the EXACT same way as you describe, She happily gets her regumate squirted into her mouth every day and has been super happy last 8 years! LOL |

JMHO but I think it's your geldings problem not your mare. Some geldings always act like perverts even after they are gelded. I may be wrong but I don't think putting your mare on regimate will stop him from thinking bad thoughts :) One of my mares was on it cause she was a sleeze mare. Squealed at everyone even me. She just stayed on it all year round. It worked great for her. It was embarrasing going to a barrel race with her & her attitude. |

The dosage is 10cc a day orally. BUT...... Since my mare is 19 this year I have slowly weaned her down to 6cc and she stays happy and out of heat. It for sure makes a bottle last longer! |
