Location: If I ever get back to Oklahoma.....
What do you do for them? One of my sis' horses had a swelled leg this morning and she said it looked like he ran into something. His forearm is 2x the size it should be she said.
She already gave some penecillian, and flushed the wound - what else should she do?

Did she get it opened up? If it's swollen it probably needs heat packed and opened up and allowed to drain. And yes make sure he's had his tetanus and keep giving penicillin until it looks almost normal. I usually treat them with peroxide for the first few days and then start putting nitrofurazone on top. Rinse w/the cold hose so long as it continues to drain. That's just what I do.
