Location: Lewisburg, Tennessee | What barrel saddle would you suggest to a person that needs to "get up off her butt and ride her horse"? I currently ride in a Marlene Eddleman Special Effx and LOVE the saddle but it watching my video runs I look like my butt is always in the saddle...does this make sense? I've tried a bigger seat, longer stirrups, etc. and am running out of ideas. I realize there are practically hundreds of barrel saddles out there but I feel reasonably sure that someone else has had to have the same problem as I am......anyone??? |

Location: Yakima Valley, WA | Sorry, I have the opposite problem! I need to get sat down...at LEAST in the turns. I've got a saddle coming any day now (for the past 3 weeks) that should cure me. You'll get lots of suggestions here though. These BBers are very knowledgeable about saddles. |

Location: Utah | I have a frontier saddle that really allows me to get up. You could check them out. They are well made, but don't cost a lot. |

Location: Utah | wyo- I don't know where you are in Wyoming but I know a few people that have frontier's up there, or if you ever come to any races in UT or Rock Springs you could try mine. They are very popular saddles around here. |

Location: Holland, Tx | I run in several saddles including an Effx and don't have that problem with any of mine (Billy Cook, Effx, Vega and now a new Martin). I am down when I need to be and up when I want. Have you tried shortening your stirrups? Maybe you are having to reach for them (you said you tried longer ones) and that is keeping you down in your seat???? Just throwing out thoughts here. |

Location: Texas | I love my talmadge Green saddles by Frontier... and I have owned a bunch of saddles. I love my Courts 2nd best.. But when I put my butt in SG's Caldwell... I had never been that balanced and comfortable on a horse. She let me make a run in it and I ordered one when I got home. I have to wait a year...but it's worth it. I have never sat in a saddle that nice... As much as they cost...I don't know weather to thank her or kill her !! lol! |

Location: Lewisburg, Tennessee | Hey all, thanks for the replies. SG - I went to the Caldwell website and it explained the theory perfectly and the diagrams made total sense to me (I'm a visual person!). I thought I'd give them a call and find out if they're still a year out on getting one out. Kanchazer - thanks for the offer on the Frontier - I might take you up on the offer if I ever make it down to that neck of the woods! Somebody mentioned about working on posture and position - good idea - I have to keep forward on my little mare to get her around the turns and maybe I'm over doing it... I've got a friend that rides in a Libby Hurley that I thought I'd try too - you never know |
