Location: Texas | I`v just started him back and he was doing good, other than him wanting me to eat dirt everytime I asked him to lope (which I did not do). And now he goes and does a stupid thing and hurts his leg. Hes got a scratch down the inside of it and has a small hole on the tip of his nose. There is no swelling or heat in his leg, but he does not want to walk on it. He is walking on the toe. There is no heat in the foot or anything. All I can think of is maybe he bruised his foot. I dont know what he did either. Why do horses always have to get into things. Most of the time it is the mares or geldings and the stud is good, but now it is the stud. I wonder if I will ever get him broke at this rate. I even ponied him for a hour yeaster day on my moms mare to see if he would walk out of it and he didnt. Sorry so long I just had to vent! |

Location: Texas | Too funny Cindyt!! If he desnt start walking better by friday, I`m going to get my mom to take him to the vet and get x-rays. I`m hoping he just pulled something. I hope he did not break his coffin bone or something like that. |

Location: Oklahoma | Oh no! I had almost that same thing and turned out he fractured his sesamoid. Not to scare you - but we couldn't see or feel anything but a little cut and a little swelling. But same thing with not putting any weight on it. |

Location: Texas | It gets very aggrevating sometimes. I had a good friend that lost a awesome stud a few months ago. He was doing well in the shows and they were starting to promote him for breeding.. They always kept everything so neat and clean out of the way of the horses. Their farrier came out to reshoe him, the horse spooked and set back. Caught his back leg on a golf cart trailer that they used when they picked stalls. Cut tendons and they had have him put down. You can keep your place so clean, but horses are like kids they will find something to get into... |

Location: Oklahoma | The vet said that waiting did NOT make a difference in his injury (thank goodness). I always like to watch them for a day or so in case it's nothing. Plenty of times a day or two will tell the story. And alot of times they are fine in a day. When Pete didn't get any better - I called the vet. |

Location: dead end road | I totally agree, our stud is super sweet but he is such a pain. He is into everything. Last year my step dad was welding in his pen and he was being SOOO nosy he ended up burning his lil nose because he was in my step dads back pocket the entire time. Last week mom and I take him and a few other horses to town to get coggins pulled and we hear a comotion going on outside and ran out there and he was standing with BOTH FRONT FEET on the FENDER WELL of the trailer. He was just sniffing and smelling all around and looking OVER THE TOP of the horse trailer. |

Yes, he got into something yesterday and cut that leg up (not bad), scratched his back leg and has a dime side hole on the top of his nose that is not very deep. |

Location: Nowhere Special | Sounds to me like maybe he got caught in something? Could have just pulled a muscle. In the same right if he is in where he can get a cut on his nose and leg, he very well could have stepped on a nail at the same time.. Sounds like abcess to me too.. |
