| I had posted on here earlier in April looking to find other birth control options after my Paragard IUD broke. The same day it was taken out, the random doctor I had to see because mine is three hours away, suggest the Depot shot. I think it was the worst decision ever, but I was frazzled and took her advice. I've been bleeding since April. It was supposed to wear off in late June, early July so I got the Paragard again. I had some more bleeding with that, which I experienced last time I got an IUD. But it's August and I'm STILL bleeding. I can count on one hand the days that I haven't bled. TMI, but today it was just abnormal so I called my new doctor and am waiting for them to call me back. I keep reading that bleeding can take months-a year to go away after the depo...I only had one shot so I'm hoping that won't be the case for me but by the looks of it, I feel like it'll never end.. Anyone else experience this? I'm going crazy. I feel like I could buy a horse with the amount of pads and tampons I've bought I'm exaggerating but still.. Everyone's different, but someone please tell me this will stop? |

Location: Kansas | I've been on the Depo for 2 years now. With my first injection, I bled for a few days....and haven't bled for amost 2 years now. It's a hormone injection, so it might be adversely affecting your body. Women experience different effects with different forms of birth control. I would just see what your doctor says. You might need to try a different form of BC. |

Me too. Loved every thing about it - other than that. |

My daughter too! She gained like 30 pounds. She has not gotten it again and has since dropped the weight but she will never have it again for sure! |

I also gained 30 lbs....on a 5'3" frame. My God I was FAT!! The weight was also very easy to lose when I got off the shot, just diet (not even that huffy of a diet), and excercise (not even killing myself). Was all the dang hormones in that nasty shot!
Never went back to hormonal BC, it obviously screws me up! |

Location: Beggs, OK | Just do a google search on the side effects and the long term fertility implications. I had to have my gallbladder removed when I was 19 because of Depo. I didn't gain weight, in fact I lost weight that I didnt' need to because I wasn't ever hungry. |

Location: Usa | suddenly your body’s in chaos. I bled for 5 months straight and every time I asked about it, the response was basically “oh, that’s normal.”
Spoiler: it’s not “normal.” It’s common, but it’s not okay. |
