Member Posts: 25	I have a horse with a very shallow pallet. I am having trouble bitting him up. Any suggestions? He is also a vey flexible horse. Entirely too much flex. I had thought about a hack but he also doesn't like anything on his nose. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Blessed Location: Here	I am kinda confused are you talking about "biting him up" as in getting a bit to fit him? or biting him up to tie his head around.... You might try a Mullen mouth bit for one to fit him. www.shallowcreekbits.com can put a mullen mouth on any shank you like.

Lady Di Posts: 21556 Location: Oklahoma	My daughter has a shallow mouth horse and we ride him with a Billy Allen long shank snaffle with a copper roller (I think it's a reining bit) and a tiedown. The longer shanks with little or no swivel and the tiedown tend to make him stiffer. My daughter is only 11, so she isn't very strong, so the long shanks are not a problem. He also enjoys playing with the roller and the copper keeps his mouth moist. These are pretty inexpensive bits and you can find them in most any tack catalog.

Member Posts: 25	Thanks for the info. SG I am talking about finding a bit that he is comfortable running in. He is super flexible and also has the shallow pallet. He has no problems with stopping or turning, just a problem finding a comfort zone for him with the bit.

Blessed Location: Here	That is what I thought..... the mullen mouth will help to level him out if he is on the super flex side and will be comfortable for him too.
