Location: Texas | I have a gelding. Has been thru 6-8 saddles and different gullets. Has been really back sore. Got chiropracted and ordered a BOT sheet. Hes a hard fit saddle kind, narrow withers, decent shoulders. My question is would a treeless help him out or resort in a even more sore horse? Thanks |

| Some horses don't get sore with a treeless, some do. I think it depends on how you ride and how your horse is actually built.
I preffer a tree saddle to a treeless - but I also prefer a treeless over an improper fitting treed saddle. This video MIGHT help you?

Location: Texas | I watched that video months ago. Did shims and everything. Several saddles, several pads, including a correcTOR. Guess I'll just roll the dice on a treeless and see if it helps. Thanks! |

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | The controversy over treeless saddles is HUGE. I adamantly believe that an ill fitting treed saddle is worse then a treeless any day of the week.
Yes they are some horses that will get sore in a treeless, but yet there are some horses that won't. I ride both. More because of my spine problems then anything.

A horse can be sore in their back due to hind end issues suck as stifle or hock problems.
I would suggest having a vet assess your horse to rule out any hind end issues |

Treeless doesn't work for my horse right now he prefers treed...
(Of course after I bought a treeless)
So I have one for sale if your interested also lol
If he liked treeless I would never sell this saddle
It is soooo comfortable and helps with my knee and hip issues as well... |

| I would agree with a above poster that a lot of back issues are not saddle fit problems even though it may look like that. My horse has been real,sore in his back but it is not a saddle fit issue. He has fusing hocks he was so,sore in his back before he was offically diagnosed even thoug i,have several vets look at him. I carried him to a show and his back was very sore. But he was happier with a treeless, but i had a professional saddle, maker fit him last year and i know the saddle fits and i bought a new pad and the sales person who,sold it to me was telling me that,horses change due to time of year and the horses weight is different at times of year. |

| I don't know if anyone has mentioned it but sometimes horses (especially ott) horses have been overvaccinated and also herpes is another thing that causes it- but you might try giving 1 tsp of lysine am and pm and see if that helps- I have seen studies and most horses are deficient in lysine and it can really cause soreness- also I went through the whole multitude of saddles for my boy a few years ago he is narrow- high withered yet needs a wide gullet and hes deep through the girth I found that a kay young masters saddle was perfect for him- hope this helps |
