I need a crash course in conformation. Anyone on here have charts, powerpoint, handouts, etc. that they would want to loan out?

I am a HS Physics and Chemistry teacher..... And our Supt. thought it would be a great idea for all of us to switch teaching assignments for a day with someone in a different field or age level. Well, I get to be the Ag teacher for a day. So, I thought we would do some basic conformation, I would bring up one of my docile horses and see how we do. Here is the horse I was thinking on bringing. He has some good and bad I know. I will try to find a front and rear view somewhere and put it up as well. Thanks!!!

Look at old horse and rider magazines, they always had a conformation article with three horses with the rationale.

I learned a lot from these magazines when I was a kid

AQHA journal has some great articles covering each portion of the horse.  I think it was somewhere from april- sept.

Here is a downsized poster of conformation good and bad defects ... that you can adlib off of for a couple of hours ...

Explain that your yellow horse is a stock horse type of conformation and not a halter horse ... he is a good solid looking horse ....

I am attaching a picture of a race bred horse that is an AQHA SUPREME CHAMPION ... meaning he had to earn a speed index in the 90's on the track, halter points under different judges and do performance points too ...

YOU CAN BUY IT ....>>> these are nice .. have bought several as gifts ..
http://www.hoofprints.com/education.posters.html

Keep in mind when horse toes out ... we call it winging (inwards) ... striking the other leg contributes to stumbling and falling ...

toe in is paddling to the outside ...

OR YOU CAN ENJOY IT ... lol
http://andalusianworld.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/conforma...

just click on the above after you pull it up ... even us blind people can see it then ... lol

HAVE FUN ...
