I've been losing weight, about 15 lbs since beginning of January.  I'm also on the pill.
Sunday the 9th I forgot a pill, no big deal.
Last week Thurs, I spotted for several days.  Again, no big deal.
Have been taking pill religieously again and am spotting again today.
Have a Doc. appt set for next Wednesday but thought I'd ask here if you think this is related to the weight loss or if my body is just being weird.

In the past I've had NO spotting unless I've missed 2 pills in a row, then I just go off completely and start my period and start over.

Mine were funky on the pill. Especially if I missed. I finally just went off of it completely as it got to where if I forgot one I'd start. I used an app on my phone that tracked my cycle and told me when to avoid 'it'.

For me, it depended on the brand of pill I was on. I was on Ortho Tricylen for years with no issues. Switched to Seasonique or something like that so I'd have periods once every three months. It worked great at first, then got to where when I would have my period, it was awful! I switched to another brand, and would have heavy spotting out of nowhere...sometimes a regular flow, even though it wasn't the right time. My doctor put me on Generes and it has been perfect. Extremely light periods (almost non-existent) and zero spotting.
Some women don't do well on certain pills, so I'd suggest talking to your doctor about trying something else. It's kind of like trial and error to figure out which one works best for you.

Have the doc do some blood work because thyroid issues can cause what you are describing. Don't let the doc blow you off insist on blood work because it will sho what is off!

I've been on the same pill for several years.  The only difference is last summer I switched to generic vs. name brand.  And all summer and I fall I had no issues.

You might need to switch. I was on the same pill for YEARS (from 15 to 31) with no problems and then when I was 32 my periods were HORRIBLE and I would spot occasionally. I, too, lost a lot of weight (70 lbs) but don't think that the weight loss had to do with the pills. I agree with the other poster, you may want to go have some bloodwork done. I'm not sure how old you are but things may need some "re-adjusting" as you get older.

I did this one time.  I called the doctor concerned and they told me not to worry it was from the weight loss.  Maybe just call and ask your doctor what they think.  I hadn't missed any pills, just had the spotting.  I'm guessing missing your pills has nothing to do with it.

I was told that a follicle is waiting to be release from the ovary, and as soon as you miss one pill that follicle can be released.

I would suggest speaking with your doc about the possibility of pregnancy

In the past I've had NO spotting unless I've missed 2 pills in a row, then I just go off completely and start my period and start over.

I had this same issue last summer. no joke. I have been on the same pill since I was 19.

I missed a day, would immediately take the pill when I remembered (as directed on package and my dr) and would have spotting, horrible nasty cramps, my hair had turned brittle (It was breaking and falling out) AND ... I ended up loosing about 20 lbs in 2 months; which was scary to me. I am 30 y.o and a fairly steady runner for the last 10 years. I had not changed my diet drastically, not working out more than normal, and the ONLY THING that had changed over the time I had these issues and the unexplained weight loss was that my STRESS levels increased.

We did blood work multiple times, I saw my OBGYN, I saw my regular Dr, I saw an endocrinologist. Unexplained weight loss combined with my lady bits issues really scared me and I didn't give up on only one opinion.

Everything came back normal EVERY time I had blood work done. And, this past December, I started removing things from my life (people, clubs, commitments, etc). I also changed up my daily vitamin as directed by the endocrinologist and am 100% back to feeling normal.

So, YES, do blood work. Talk to your doctor, BUT don't stop with one wishy-washy answer. Seek medical help but also know that as we get older, stress and diet and working out will have much different effects on your body.

You got this and don't give up!!!!

I was on Yaz for years. Then randomly I started bleeding constantly on it after missing just one dose. I changed pills (Ortho) and didn't have another issue.

I haven't been on the pill in years, thanks to migraines.
