does anyone have any experience dealing with this?

my gelding has been diagnosed by my farrier,he said it was very acute, but needs to be kept up with,no more than 6 weeks between shoeing etc, should i follow up with a vet?

is there a prescription med that he should be on to help fight the infection?

what is the best treatment as far as topical or sprays...

lucky for me, i saw this coming a mile away and already moved my horse to my farriers house where is kept in a very dry and clean stall/turnout.

White Lightning-- only thing that I've found to really work from the "outside" and even then it is limited.

But I've been dealing with it for a while... a track that had worked it's way up and no matter how much I treated and opened up from the bottom it was still there... The last time I fought it (when all the snow melted and everything was nasty) my vet opened it up and then dremelled a small hole in the hoof wall at the top of the track.  I flushed formalin through that hole daily and packed it with cotton.  I am finally beating it and waiting for that hole to grow out.  White line lives where there is no air.  You have to open it up to beat it.  Good luck  :)

My horse got rid of it using coopertox daily and keeping up with his trims and shoes every six. at the end, we trimmed him short, kept shoes with medicated pads on him, and it cleared right up.

i'm not sure of the concentration, but we use a mixture of clorox and water - it clears it right up if you put it on twice daily and keep their feet as dry as possible. I"ll check with hubby he mixes it...coppertox also helps
