Location: British Columbia | I'm trying a Martin Crown C tomorrow. I ride a 15" but I've been feeling like I move around a little too much since I lost all this weight.
I searched online and it said, according to my height, weight, and thigh circumference I should be riding a 14.5".
Does .5" really make that much of a difference? I've always ridden in a 15. |

| I went from a 15" triple creek and RS to a 14" crown c. When/if I need to sell it for a bigger gullet I may try a 14.5" just to see, but I like the way the 14" rides. |

Do you find it fits considerably smaller? |

| It depends on the gullet size, a lot of people are finding that when you get to a size 9, they need to go up half a size. |

And Cheryl, why is that? I'm trying an 8.5 gullet. |

The seat is sort of like a bowl high pommels and high seat with your crotch sitting on the flat part in the middle.
When you go bigger the pommels are wider which then spreads you legs apart and you are forced back onto your pockets.
When turning if you are on your pockets not on the crotch it throws you forward in the turn.
Hope that helps |

| Yes in that I have less space between the front of my thighs and the pommel. But, the way it's built makes it ride a bit differently. The barn owner rides 14's and has several we tried on him as well, I wouldn't have bought a 14 in any of those styles (circle y, billy cook, etc) I was skeptical about the 14 in the Martin, but I had a few days to ride it before I had to decide. |

Location: Oklahoma | I am not sure what the gullet was, but I sat in a 14.5 las weekend at a store and it was too tight for my liking. I ride in a 15" BC that I bought when I was 14. 10 years later and I still like it, but I've put on about 15 pounds since then so I'm sure it was too big back then. Alison went from a 14.5 BC to a Martin and, if I remember correctly, she said the seat sizes ran the same between those two brands. |
