Location: Mi | I recently bought a Jackie Jatzlau Treeless, what pads do you guys like under them? Looking for some opinions. I have yet to run in it, just been riding. I'm using a 3/4" 5 Star and have always liked the 5 Stars. I don't notice anything riding but when I go to get off I notice the saddle will roll some. Maybe I just haven't tightened it up enough like I would when I'd run. I'm not sure. Just wondering what everyone else has had luck with under them. Thanks! |

Location: NE Texas | The key here is to use a thin pad. I used a Schneiders Performance Pad under mine and it's a 5/8" thick. I have zero roll whatsoever and don't have to cinch up tight at all. The key is to keep the pad around a 1/2", though. The thicker the pad, the more the roll. Years ago when I rode a Bob Marshall, I used just a double layer navajo. I think you'll find that if you can get a thin pad that is around a 1/2" thick, most of that roll will go away.

Location: Golden Gulf Coast of Texas | I find it varies from horse to horse. I use a Saddleright on one mare and a 3/4 " 5Star on the other. A few of my friends use the Reinsman Tacky Too pads and they really like those.
But Herbie is right about keeping it thin. |
