Question 11 year old gelding
If you knew me you would want to be me

We have an eleven year old gelding that will posture to pee and pee a small amount and then unposture and then repeat. He will do this over and over again. Usually see it while we are shoeing him, or if we are getting ready to run him and after he runs.
Any idea why?
Thanks in advance.

I have a gelding who does that when he is upset.
When I first got him, I really wondered what the heck was going on.

Have you checked him for beans? That will usually cause the posturing and frequent yet small amounts of urination.

Any gelding I have I feed apple cider vinegar. It helps flush the kidneys.

Check for beans and then run a bag of kidney cleansing herbs through him. I can't remember what we used a few years ago but it clearer up our frequent urinator, I think Silver Lining has some. I've noticed him peeing more so it may be time to do again.

I would definitly get him cleaned if you havent already. Is his pee normal? That isnt a normal behavior so it would worry me a bit. see if you can check for a UTI.

Please keep us updated. I have an 11 yr old gelding who does the same thing, but only in the summer, so I assumed it was because of the bugs. I ordered Silver Lining Herbs Kidney this week.

Beans can develop pretty quick, I typically check every month or so, really whenever they drop in front of me and I haven't checked in a bit i give them a quick look - especially if I notice weird peeing habits.

I'd run some tests to determine kidney function. My gelding who had decreased kidney function did this, it was the first sign of problems.
