how long was it after you gave birth you got back in the saddle. with my first it was two weeks but 5 min after i got on i had horrid hip spasms that felt like my hips were going to explode through my joint sockets. i would have to lift my self off the horse and fall to the ground. yes it was just as dramatic as it sounds. with my due date just a couple weeks around the corner im ready to get back in the game. did any one else have that crazy hip pain? it took diligence but about 6 months after it stopped happening or at least only happened a couple hours into ridding.

I got back on 4 weeks after both kids and had no problems. But I started yoga and walking about 10 days after birthing them and that probably helped.

I was riding a month after my son. I didn't have hip pain but I sure had imagined balance issues for a long time. I thought I was flopping all over and felt very unbalanced. It wasn't until my husband videoed me riding that I realized it was just imagined and I was riding square. Still took a long time to stop feeling like I was riding in the tea cups st the fair lol.

I started riding about 3 weeks after a vag birth. Only discomfort I had was that I still had some stitches that hadn't finished disolving yet. I started out on hubby's big slow heading horse for the first week, ponying my barrel horses. At 5 weeks I entered a jackpot on my smooth running mare, and at 6 1/2 weeks I entered my big strong horse in a rodeo (and got 5th!). I never really felt out of balance, but I had stayed very fit and didn't gain much weight--and lost all of it quickly. I was at pre-pregnancy weight at 6-7 weeks, and continued to loose almost 10 more pounds and maintained that weight.

I think it depends on how much damage is done to the vaginal area. With my first I was back in my pre-pregnancy jeans within 2 weeks and riding within a month. With my second the DR pulled the baby out funny and it tore into my actual butt muscle by nearly 2 inchs. I couldn't sit in a chair for a month and a half much less try to ride. It took me 4 months to ride WITH pain and 10 years later I still get stabbing pain in my butt muscle and a scar tissue pulling sensation. My third child was C-section, I was up washing cloths and walking around within a few days but I did wait a month to ride and I was fine. If I could do it all over again I would NEVER have a vaginal delivery only C-section for me to keep form damaging the goods, and I healed better with C-section!!!!!!!

Three years with first one!  ha ha  I couldn't keep her interested in anything long enough to saddle much less actually ride.  About a day after the second one.  JK!  We did get on a horse and walk around the day after we got home though! And then I don't remember it being any big deal to start back up again.

Were any of u riding some before giving birth?    When did you stop before giving birth?  Just wondering if that affects how soon you can get back riding after birth.

I rode with the first one up till a couple weeks before my due date. I. Probably would have kept ridding but at the time all I owned were young ones and my balance officially put my self in gepardy. This time I have nothing of ridding age so it's been a while so we shall see if that makes a difference

With my first, I pulled a groin running barrels at 15 weeks and that was it for riding. The second, I made it to 24 weeks before my hip pain got too bad to continue.
