Extreme Veteran Posts: 376 Location: Stillwater, OK	I'm sure that this has been asked and asked again, but can I get some recommendations on horse insurance? I would really like loss and major medical. This would be the first horse that I am insuring so I'm a complete newbie! Good, bad, and ugly welcome! Anything that I need to be aware of?

Not more than a month or two after getting the policy, my horse got a major injury (severe DDF Tendonitis). They have been great! No questions asked. They paid 100% of the stem cell treatment and 60% of all the other prcdeures and diagnosis (with the exception of joint injections). Easy to work with, quick return.

Coyote Country Queen Posts: 5666	I have insured through Plains Horizon and have no complaints. I've had 2 claims for pro-foal policies, and they were both paid as soon as all of the paperwork was completed by us and the vet.

That's White "Man" to You Posts: 5515	I'd do a price comparison on each of them. Usually equine insurance is a percentage of the repacement cost. For my new mare it was 3.5% of the purchase price per year.
