My one horse hurt her tendon over the winter and it healed completely but she swells up very easy. I got told to use poultice on her legs because of the injury and also she is 17 years old. How often should I apply it?

I would try some BOT quick wraps. They worked wonders for my gelding that tore his suspensory!

IMO, if it is 'swelling up very easily', she's not completely healed.

I would also be worried that it's not fully healed. What do you mean by easily? Is it swelling just randomly all the time, after you ride her, when she's been stalled, when travelling?

Might be time to retire the horse if not already. As ready said I would suspect an underlying issue causing the swelling

It swells when she is stalled, trailering, or on concrete for long periods of time. She does not go lame at all. It just swells where it was hurt and gets heat in it.

I got told byt he vet that after a couple months of her being off she will be healed completely and that was in December. I put boots on her anytime I get on her even on trail rides to make sure she does not reinjury it

You need to have her ultrasounded to know for SURE if the tendon is healed or not.  There is no other way to know.. then you need to do the proper rehab excersises on her to strengthen the tendon back up so it doesn't re-injur.  I am telling you from experience (my horse has torn a suspensory twice), if you are getting swelling and heat, the tendon is not healed properly, or you did not rehab properly and have possibly reinjured it by doing too much too soon on it.

Ditto to this. Just because the prescribed amount of time has passed, doesn't mean that your horse is actually healed. Sounds to me like your horse is NOT healed.

The vet never said anything about rehab exercises or anything. She said after that time passes to work her up slowly which I did to make sure she did not go lame. And she did not go lame. Would a ultrasound show a pulled tendon? The vet said it was definitely pulled but might of had a micro tear in it.

Thanks for all your help with this.
