I have always heard horses can not see at night with fly mask's on. Do you think that is actually true? Does anybody ever leave their on 24/7?
We take our horses in the barn at night and put them in the pasture during the day so the fly mask's come off and on accordingly automatically. We are going to be gone for a week and the gal that house sits for us is not real horsey ( even though she loves the horses) so they will be staying out in the pasture 24/7 while we are gone. So the fly mask's either have to stay on 24/7 or stay off 24/7. Just not sure what to do. What say you all? What would you do?

I leave mine on 24/7 and mine are all out on pasture day and night. I guess I don't know for sure if it hinders their sight at night (i suppose they may?) but my horses have had no problems either getting out or getting around.

I leave mine on 24/7. I don't have time to mess with them at the 3:30 am chore time. I've done this for years and have never had any trouble.

I've always left mine on 24/7.  Doesn't seem to bother them one bit!

I know lots of folks that leave them on 24/7. I don't only because my horses are really hard on fly masks and they seem to last longer if I take them off at night.

If you do leave them on 24/7 at lease check them every couple of days, one of my horses had somethin wrong with her eye and we didn't notice for like a week because she had a fly mask on. Ended up being a puncture wound, but could have been worse if we hadn't seen it.

We always left them on 24/7. Just make sure you check them often. They can get hay/grass (or in my idiots case cactus lol) stuck in it and poking them.
The only problem I have ever had with them is when the neighbors called the sheriff because we were abusing our horses by blindfolding them all the time! lol
